Yep, that’s me with bangs…

I was selected to participate in Lowe’s first ever Advanced Leadership Program (ALP) course for Managers and committed 100+ hours of time to complete the certification.

PROGRAM PURPOSE:

To strengthen the Lowe’s leadership bench by delivering an immersive development experience that accelerates the capabilities of our key talent at the manager level.  This experience will target a leader’s readiness to take on roles of greater impact and responsibility more quickly to meet the current and future challenges of the Lowe’s retail business.

WHAT IS ACCELERATED LEADERSHIP PROGRAM FOR MANAGERS?

ALP for Managers is a three-month cohort experience where a group of 36 Managers from across the organization are brought together to learn, solve business problems, and grow capability as a Lowe’s leader.  A variety of methodologies are used, including facilitator-led virtual and in-person presented in partnership by Emory’s Goizueta Business School® and the Lowe’s Executive & Leadership Development team, leadership assessments, 1:1 and group coaching, and action learning (a Lowe’s assigned business project).  The performance outcomes below will prepare managers for their next role and are aligned to leading self, leading teams, and leading business.

OVERVIEW

Total duration was about 10 weeks, consisting of mostly online coursework and classes. We were expected to complete all homework and course assignments in addition to our full-time jobs. Yea, it was crazy. We ended the training with a final project, to present in front of Lowe’s Senior Vice President leadership. If C-Suite is royalty, think of SVPs as lords and ladies. It was a big deal.

FINAL PRESENTATION

Below are a few slides from our final group presentation, inclusive of strategic framing, market research, and design solutioning. We took 15 mins to present to SVP leadership, with microphones in a large auditorium.
